What are blackheads and pimples?
Disease description:
These days, when looking in the mirror, I noticed there are many small black spots on my nose. After going to the hospital for examination, the doctor said they are blackheads. What are blackheads and pimples?
Blackheads and acne are common skin conditions that primarily occur in areas with abundant sebaceous glands, such as the face, chest, and back. Blackheads, also known as open comedones, appear as black dots within visibly enlarged pores. When squeezed, they may extrude a substance resembling small worms with a dark tip. This dark appearance results from a mixture of sebum, cellular debris, and bacteria blocking the hair follicle opening and undergoing oxidation upon exposure to air. Acne includes both whiteheads (closed comedones) and blackheads (open comedones). These are common and frequently occurring conditions in dermatology, primarily caused by hormonal imbalances, excessive sebum production, blockage of the hair follicle openings, and bacterial infection.
