The Dangers of Thyroid Nodules
When I went to the hospital for a checkup, I was found to have thyroid nodules. I would like to ask the doctor about the potential risks and harms associated with thyroid nodules.

Thyroid nodules are abnormal masses within the thyroid tissue, which may pose the following health risks:
1. Risk of malignancy: Some thyroid nodules may be malignant tumors, such as thyroid cancer. Although most nodules are benign, medical evaluation is necessary to determine their nature.
2. Thyroid dysfunction: Nodules may affect the function of surrounding normal thyroid tissue, leading to excessive or insufficient secretion of thyroid hormones, causing hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism, thereby affecting overall metabolism and health.
3. Compression of surrounding tissues and organs: Larger thyroid nodules can exert pressure on adjacent neck tissues and organs, causing symptoms such as difficulty breathing, swallowing discomfort, and hoarseness, which can impact quality of life.
If a thyroid nodule is detected, prompt medical attention is recommended.
