The main causes of axillary odor include: 1. Genetic factors: Axillary odor has a familial inheritance tendency. If there is a family history of axillary odor, the risk of developing the condition increases. 2. Overactive apocrine glands: Excessive secretion from the apocrine glands under the armpit skin, particularly during summer or puberty, creates favorable conditions for bacterial growth. 3. Bacterial proliferation: Organic substances in sweat are broken down by bacteria, producing unsaturated fatty acids that emit an unpleasant odor. 4. Poor lifestyle habits: Inadequate personal hygiene, such as infrequent bathing and changing clothes, and wearing tight-fitting clothing can worsen axillary odor. 5. Other factors: Diet, emotional state, and endocrine function may also influence axillary odor. Consuming excessive spicy or greasy foods, emotional stress or excitement, and increased secretion of sex hormones can all exacerbate symptoms of axillary odor.
