Can people with gout eat tripe?
Disease description:
I really enjoy eating tripe, especially hot pot-style tripe. However, I recently had a gout attack and I'm wondering if it will be okay. May I ask, can people with gout eat tripe?

Gout patients are not advised to consume tripe, mainly for the following reasons:
1. High purine content: As a type of animal offal, tripe contains relatively high levels of purines. Specifically, every 100 grams of tripe contains approximately 80 milligrams of purines, classifying it as a moderate-purine food. Gout is a disease caused by purine metabolism disorders and impaired uric acid excretion. High-purine foods further increase uric acid levels in the body, which can trigger or worsen gout symptoms.
2. Adverse effects on the condition: After consumption, excessive purines from tripe are metabolized into uric acid, leading to a sharp increase in blood uric acid levels, which is highly detrimental for gout patients. Especially during acute gout attacks and in cases of hyperuricemia, tripe should be strictly avoided.
