This is my second time undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF), and it doesn't seem to be going very smoothly again, so I would like to ask: What is the mechanism behind bleeding during downregulation?

The principle of down-regulation bleeding mainly involves fluctuations in hormone levels. In assisted reproductive technologies such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), down-regulation injections, which are hormonal medications, are widely used to promote synchronized follicular development and increase the number of mature follicles.

After administration of the down-regulation injection, hormone levels in a woman's body initially rise to stimulate follicular development. However, as the drug's effects gradually diminish, hormone levels drop sharply. This rapid hormonal change can cause irregular shedding of the endometrium, leading to light vaginal bleeding. This type of bleeding typically appears as brownish discharge, is minimal in amount, and differs from normal menstruation. It usually resolves spontaneously within a short period and is considered a normal physiological phenomenon. If the bleeding is heavy or persists for an extended period, medical consultation is advised.
