What are the common symptoms of nephritis?
Disease description:
During this period, I have been feeling unwell. After having a cold, I noticed increased urination. I went for a check-up, and the urinalysis showed elevated protein, white blood cells, and occult blood. The doctor diagnosed me with acute nephritis. I would like to ask, what are the general symptoms of nephritis?
Nephritis generally presents as a combination of various symptoms, mainly including:
1. **Abnormal urine volume and appearance**: Patients may experience changes in urine output, which may initially decrease and later increase. The urine may appear cloudy, with hematuria (urine appearing red, pink, or brown) and proteinuria (increased foam in the urine, larger bubbles that persist for a longer duration).
2. **Edema**: Nephritis often causes edema, particularly in the face, eyelids, hands, and feet. In severe cases, generalized edema may occur, resulting from impaired kidney function in removing waste and excess fluid.
3. **Back pain**: Patients with nephritis often experience back pain, especially on both sides of the lower back. The intensity and extent of pain vary among individuals and are caused by inflammation of the kidneys.
If the above symptoms occur, prompt medical consultation is recommended for examination and diagnosis.
