Instructions for Use of Urine Glucose Test Strips
Disease description:
My aunt has diabetes. A few days ago, she was examined for her prostate and found to have four plus signs for glucose in her urine. After taking blood sugar-lowering medication, she purchased urine glucose test strips on her own but doesn't know how to use them. May I ask what is the correct method for using urine glucose test strips?
Instructions for Use of Urine Glucose Test Strips:
1. Preparation: Ensure hands are clean. Use a clean container to collect a sufficient amount of fresh urine. To reduce errors, it is recommended to use midstream urine and avoid contamination of the urine sample.
2. Procedure: Gently immerse one end of the urine glucose test strip into the urine for approximately 1-2 seconds, ensuring the strip is fully saturated without excessive soaking. Then, carefully remove the strip, avoiding shaking to prevent splashing or color mixing of the urine.
3. Observation of Results: Within 30-60 seconds, carefully observe the color change on the test strip. Compare the color of the test strip with the standard color chart provided on the packaging to determine the glucose content in the urine.
4. Interpretation of Results: Based on the color comparison, the urine glucose level can be preliminarily determined. For example, a blue color may indicate a negative result (no sugar in the urine), while green, yellow-green, amber, or brick-red colors may indicate varying degrees of positive results. The specific glucose content should be determined according to the standards on the color chart.
