Manifestations of Declining Kidney Function

Disease description:

During this period, I have been feeling uncomfortable all over my body. Considering my age, I suspect it might be related to kidney function, especially since I had kidney disease before, although it was cured. Recently, I have been experiencing frequent night sweats. I would like to know what are the common symptoms of declining kidney function?

Decline in kidney function may present with the following symptoms: 1. Edema: Due to the kidneys' inability to effectively remove excess fluid from the body, swelling may occur in the face, eyelids, hands, feet, or dependent parts of the body. 2. Changes in urine output: When kidney function declines, urine output may decrease, and in severe cases, there may be no urine production at all. Conversely, some individuals may experience increased nighttime urination during the early stages. 3. Fatigue and weakness: Declining kidney function can affect red blood cell production, leading to anemia, which in turn causes persistent fatigue and a general feeling of weakness. 4. Hypertension: Weakened blood pressure regulation by the kidneys may lead to elevated blood pressure. 5. Bone problems: The kidneys play a role in activating vitamin D. When kidney function is impaired, it can lead to thinner, more fragile bones and the development of osteoporosis. 6. Gastrointestinal symptoms: Nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite can sometimes be early signs of kidney insufficiency.
