What should I do if there is a tumor on the kidney?
Disease description:
A while ago, I went to the hospital for a checkup and was told that there is a tumor on my kidney. It seems not very serious, and the doctor said to monitor it first. I haven't experienced any physical discomfort either. I would like to ask how this condition should be treated.

When a tumor is found on the kidney, its benign or malignant nature should first be confirmed through laboratory tests, ultrasound, CT scans, and other diagnostic methods. A treatment plan should then be developed based on the patient's condition, wishes, and overall health status.
1. Benign tumors: If the tumor is small and asymptomatic, regular follow-up examinations may be recommended to monitor any changes. If the tumor is large or causing compressive symptoms, kidney-sparing surgery, such as partial nephrectomy, is recommended to preserve renal function.
2. Malignant tumors: For malignant tumors, radical nephrectomy is a commonly performed surgical procedure, involving removal of the entire kidney, adrenal gland, nearby lymph nodes, and perirenal fat tissue. Additional treatments such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted drug therapy, or immunotherapy may also be required after surgery to improve treatment outcomes.
3. General care: Regardless of the tumor type, patients should maintain a regular lifestyle, ensure adequate sleep, avoid fatigue, minimize visits to crowded places to prevent infections, and enhance their immunity through appropriate physical activity.
