Recently, during a medical checkup, my doctor told me that I have high lupus levels, and I heard that this can cause fetal arrest. May I ask, does having high lupus levels necessarily lead to fetal arrest?

"Lupus high" refers to elevated levels of certain indicators (such as lupus anticoagulant) in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). However, elevated lupus indicators do not necessarily cause fetal arrest. Systemic lupus erythematosus is an autoimmune disease that commonly affects women of childbearing age, although not every patient will experience fetal arrest. The causes of fetal arrest are complex and may be related to uncontrolled SLE disease activity and the presence of autoantibodies in the body (such as lupus anticoagulant, anticardiolipin antibodies, anti-trophoblast antibodies, etc.). These antibodies may impair placental function, leading to insufficient blood supply required for fetal growth and development, thus resulting in fetal arrest. Close monitoring of the disease condition is necessary during pregnancy, with timely adjustment of treatment plans to reduce the risks of fetal arrest and other complications.
