Spleen deficiency-induced obesity refers to weight gain caused by dysfunction of the spleen. In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory, the spleen governs transformation and transportation, responsible for converting food into nutrients and distributing them throughout the body. When the spleen is weak, water and dampness cannot be properly metabolized, leading to accumulation of "dampness" in the body, which then converts into fat, resulting in obesity. Additionally, spleen deficiency may be accompanied by symptoms such as indigestion, fatigue, and loose stools. Recommendations:

1. Adjust your diet by reducing intake of greasy and raw or cold foods, and consume more easily digestible foods such as Chinese yam (Dioscorea opposita) and coix seed (Coix lacryma-jobi), which can strengthen the spleen and resolve dampness.

2. Regulate emotions, as long-term anger, depression, and other emotional fluctuations may contribute to spleen deficiency and obesity. It is important to learn to manage emotions, for example, by meditating, practicing deep breathing, or other relaxation techniques.

3. Herbal treatment: Under the guidance of a TCM practitioner, you may take herbal medicines that strengthen the spleen and resolve dampness, such as Jianpi Wan (Spleen-Strengthening Pill), Shen Ling Bai Zhu San (Atractylodes and Platycodon Powder), Qipi Wan (Spleen-Invigorating Pill), or Fuzi Lizhong Wan (Processed Aconite Restoring the Middle Pill), which have functions of strengthening the spleen, harmonizing the stomach, and replenishing qi.

4. Engaging in moderate physical activity can help alleviate obesity caused by spleen deficiency. Activities such as jogging or swimming are recommended, with approximately half an hour of exercise per day.
