Instructions for Use of Fetal Heart Rate Monitor
Recently, I purchased a fetal heart rate monitor but don't know how to use it. May I ask, what is the proper way to use a fetal heart rate monitor?
Instructions for using the fetal heart rate monitor:
1. Device preparation: Ensure the fetal heart rate monitor has sufficient battery power and check that the device is in normal working condition.
2. Patient preparation: The pregnant woman should adopt a comfortable position and relax her abdomen to facilitate signal reception. She can lie flat on the bed with a high pillow under her head, knees bent, and feet resting on the bed.
3. Locating the fetal heart: Typically, the clearest location for detecting the fetal heartbeat is over the fetus's back. First-time mothers can estimate the appropriate location for auscultation based on fetal position.
4. Auscultation of fetal heart: Apply coupling gel to the area where auscultation is needed, then place the transducer on the gel and turn on the device. If the correct location is chosen, a clear fetal heart sound should be audible.
5. Monitoring duration: It is generally recommended that each monitoring session should last no less than 10 minutes and no more than 20 minutes. If any abnormal fetal heart rate is detected during monitoring, discontinue use immediately and seek medical attention promptly.
6. Data recording: After monitoring, record the fetal heart rate value along with the date and time of monitoring for reference by a physician.
7. Cleaning and storage: After use, clean the transducer and device surface, and store in a dry, well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight and high temperatures.
When using a fetal heart rate monitor, follow medical advice, avoid excessive reliance on home-use devices, and attend regular professional prenatal checkups to ensure maternal and fetal health.
