What causes pain on the top of the head?
I caught a chill, and my head hurts as soon as I'm exposed to air conditioning. What is causing this?

Common causes that may lead to pain on the top of the head:
1. Mental stress: Prolonged mental tension, anxiety, or excessive stress may cause constriction of blood vessels in the brain, leading to poor blood circulation and resulting in pain on the top of the head.
2. Lack of sleep: Staying up late or poor sleep quality may lead to brain fatigue, causing symptoms of pain on the top of the head.
3. Abnormal blood pressure: Both high and low blood pressure can affect blood supply to the brain and cause pain on the top of the head.
4. Migraine: Migraine is usually accompanied by pulsating pain, often on one side of the head, but it may also affect the entire head, including the area on the top of the head.
5. Increased intracranial pressure: This may be caused by serious conditions such as brain tumors, cerebral edema, or intracranial hemorrhage, and requires immediate medical attention.
6. Neck problems: Cervical spine disorders or tension in the neck muscles may also cause pain on the top of the head.
7. Local lesions: Localized conditions such as folliculitis or herpes infection affecting the scalp or head may also cause pain on the top of the head.
8. Diet: Excessive intake of caffeine or alcohol, or allergic reactions to certain foods, may also trigger headaches.
