Dr. Cao Zhiqiang

The presence of occult blood in urine does not necessarily indicate a serious condition, but it should be taken seriously. Occult blood may be caused by various factors, including but not limited to urinary tract inflammation, stones, tumors, or kidney damage. When these diseases are detected early and treated promptly, they generally do not lead to serious consequences.

If occult blood appears occasionally and other tests, such as urine red blood cell morphology and kidney function, are normal, it may be caused by physiological factors such as strenuous exercise or fever. In such cases, there is generally no significant harm, and urine test results often return to normal after removing the triggering factors.

If occult blood persists, especially when accompanied by symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, painful urination, or edema, it may indicate a more serious urinary system disease, and timely medical attention is recommended. In most cases, targeted treatment can effectively control and resolve the issue.

Occult blood without symptoms should not be ignored either. Regular check-ups are necessary, and medical attention should be sought promptly if any discomfort occurs.
