Disease description:

During this period, there has been a persistent feeling of heaviness and distension in the testicular area, which has not improved for a long time. I looked it up online and suspect it might be caused by varicocele. I would like to know what the symptoms of varicocele are.

Varicocele is one of the common urogenital system diseases in males, primarily occurring in young and middle-aged men. It refers to the abnormal dilation, elongation, and tortuosity of the pampiniform venous plexus within the spermatic cord. The main symptoms include:

1. Pain and discomfort: The most common symptom is a dull, aching, or heavy sensation in the scrotal area, particularly worsening after prolonged standing or physical exertion, and alleviated by lying down and rest.

2. Swelling: Patients may feel mild to moderate swelling in one or both sides of the scrotum. Sometimes, worm-like clusters of dilated veins can be felt.

3. Neuroasthenia and sexual dysfunction: Patients may experience symptoms of neuroasthenia such as headache, insomnia, and fatigue, as well as sexual dysfunction including decreased libido, premature ejaculation, and erectile dysfunction.

4. Testicular atrophy: Long-standing varicocele may lead to testicular atrophy, characterized by reduced testicular volume and softer consistency.

5. Other symptoms: Symptoms such as scrotal enlargement, vague scrotal pain, varicose veins in the lower limbs, and hydrocele may also occur in some patients.

If you experience the above symptoms, it is recommended to seek medical attention promptly.
