How to treat varicose veins in the legs
The veins on my lower leg are bulging, resembling worms. My calves feel sore and heavy after standing for a long time. I'm now very worried that my condition will worsen. How should varicose veins in the lower legs be treated?

Varicose veins of the lower extremities are a common vascular disease, primarily characterized by dilation and twisting of the leg veins, impaired blood return, and symptoms such as leg swelling, pain, and heaviness. The main treatment methods include the following:
1. Conservative treatment: Suitable for mild or moderate varicose veins, including wearing medical compression stockings to improve blood circulation; engaging in regular exercise, such as walking or swimming, to strengthen lower limb muscles and promote blood return; avoiding prolonged standing or sitting, and elevating the legs periodically to reduce leg pressure.
2. Pharmacological treatment: Oral venoactive drugs, such as Venoruton (horse chestnut seed extract) and Diosmin, may be used as adjunctive therapy to further improve venous function.
3. Physical therapy: Includes minimally invasive treatments such as sclerotherapy injections. These methods use heat or chemical agents to act on the affected veins, causing them to close and redirecting blood flow to healthy veins.
4. Surgical treatment: If conservative treatments are ineffective, surgical intervention may be necessary. Surgical options include traditional high ligation and stripping of the great saphenous vein, as well as modern minimally invasive procedures such as radiofrequency ablation and laser therapy.
