Exercising after meals can effectively utilize the elevated blood glucose levels following a meal, promoting glucose absorption and utilization by the muscles, thereby lowering blood glucose levels.

Moderate-intensity exercise performed 1–2 hours after a meal is optimal, as the body's sensitivity to insulin is higher during this time, which helps enhance the effect of exercise on blood glucose.

Select suitable types of exercise according to individual conditions, such as brisk walking, jogging, cycling, practicing Tai Chi, or yoga—these are all forms of aerobic exercise; avoid strenuous exercise.

It should be noted that exercising immediately after eating may interfere with digestion, so it is not recommended to start exercising right after a meal. Additionally, patients should maintain an appropriate duration of exercise; generally, it is recommended to exercise for more than 30 minutes, but not excessively long or intense. Blood glucose should be monitored before exercise to prevent hypoglycemia, especially for patients receiving insulin therapy.
