Watery vaginal discharge in women refers to a clear, transparent, colorless or slightly yellowish liquid vaginal secretion resembling water. Common causes include:
1. During ovulation, elevated estrogen levels may cause a moderate amount of watery discharge, which is a normal physiological phenomenon that helps sperm motility. However, if the watery discharge suddenly increases and is accompanied by odor, color changes (such as yellow-green), itching, pain, or other discomforts, it may indicate a pathological condition.
2. Vaginitis: Poor local hygiene or imbalance of vaginal flora can lead to inflammation of the vaginal mucosa, resulting in watery discharge, which may be accompanied by itching.
3. Cervicitis: Factors such as unhygienic sexual activity or decreased immunity can cause inflammation of the cervical mucosa, leading to watery discharge resembling rice-washing water with a fishy odor.
4. Endometritis: Infections following intrauterine procedures or unhygienic sexual activity can cause endometrial inflammation, leading to watery discharge, which may also exhibit stringy characteristics or be accompanied by uterine bleeding.
