What are the symptoms of ascites in liver cirrhosis?
I have cirrhosis with ascites. What are the symptoms of cirrhosis-related ascites?

Major symptoms of ascites due to cirrhosis:
1. Abdominal distension: This is the most obvious sign, caused by the accumulation of large amounts of fluid in the abdominal cavity, leading to significant abdominal enlargement.
2. Lower limb edema: When liver function is severely impaired, ascites may be accompanied by swelling of the lower limbs.
3. Dyspnea: When the volume of ascites is large, it elevates the diaphragm, reduces thoracic cavity capacity, and compresses the lungs, resulting in increased respiratory rate, shallow breathing, or even shortness of breath.
4. General symptoms: These include general fatigue, weight loss, reduced physical strength, and mental depression. Skin changes such as facial pigmentation and darkening of the skin may also occur.
5. Indigestion: Symptoms include loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting, which are related to the compression of the gastrointestinal tract by ascites.
6. Pain: Pain in the liver area or abdominal pain may occur.
7. Jaundice: Persistent jaundice is one of the common symptoms of cirrhotic ascites.
8. Weight gain: Rapid weight gain over a short period, especially when dietary habits have not changed.
