Dr. Cao Zhiqiang

Changes in semen color are associated with various factors, including diet, lifestyle habits, and overall health condition. Common causes include the following:

1. Physiological factors: After a prolonged period without ejaculation, the components of semen may become concentrated, causing the semen to appear yellowish after ejaculation. The consumption of certain foods or medications may also affect the color of semen. These are considered normal physiological phenomena and generally do not require excessive concern.

2. Abnormal conditions: If semen consistently appears yellow and is accompanied by symptoms such as pain, burning sensation, difficulty urinating, sexual dysfunction, discomfort or swelling in the lower abdomen, or even painful ejaculation, blood in the semen, or difficulty urinating, it may indicate prostatitis, urethral infection, or other urogenital system diseases.

3. Management: If the change is due to normal physiological factors, usually no excessive concern is needed. However, if pathological causes are suspected, timely medical consultation is recommended. Diagnostic tests such as semen analysis, urine tests, or ultrasound may be conducted to determine the exact cause.
