Facial acne scars may be left after healing from inflammatory acne, such as pustules and nodules. Methods for removing facial acne scars:
1. Use skincare products containing alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), as AHAs can lighten the skin, reduce melanin, and help diminish scars. However, after using AHA skincare products, avoid direct sunlight to prevent melanin formation.
2. Doctors may recommend non-invasive treatments such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or laser therapy. These treatments can remove the outer layer of skin, promote the growth of new skin cells, and reduce the visibility of scars. Generally, results can be seen within 15 to 30 days after treatment.
3. For deeper scars, injectable fillers or subcision may be required to lift the scar tissue and make it level with the surrounding skin.
