Early-stage cirrhosis, also known as compensated cirrhosis, is the initial phase of cirrhosis. During this stage, patients may not exhibit obvious clinical symptoms or signs, and liver function tests usually remain essentially normal. However, through examinations such as color ultrasound or liver biopsy, significant pathological changes in the liver can be detected, such as increased levels of various collagen types within the liver, predominantly types I and III collagen deposition.
Causes of early cirrhosis include long-term heavy alcohol consumption, chronic hepatitis B or C virus infection, autoimmune liver disease, fatty liver disease, and others. At this stage, if the condition is detected promptly and effective treatment measures—such as abstaining from alcohol, antiviral therapy, and weight control—are implemented, disease progression can be delayed.
Patients should maintain a balanced diet, focusing on light and easily digestible foods, while also avoiding excessive fatigue and alcohol consumption in daily life.
