Disease description:

I've been having difficulty with bowel movements recently. While others can finish within five to ten minutes, I usually need twenty minutes to half an hour because I have to strain very hard. Passing stool feels very painful as it goes through the anus. I'd like to ask whether I might be suffering from constipation?

Constipation is mainly characterized by reduced frequency of bowel movements, hard and dry stools that are difficult to pass, a sensation of incomplete evacuation, and other related symptoms. The occurrence of constipation is associated with factors such as dietary habits, lifestyle, mental stress, and gastrointestinal diseases.

Insufficient dietary fiber and inadequate water intake, prolonged sitting without enough physical activity, and excessive mental stress can all contribute to constipation. In addition, intestinal diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease and intestinal tumors may also cause constipation.

Constipation not only affects daily life but may also lead to other health problems, such as hemorrhoids, anal fissures, accumulation of intestinal toxins, and dull skin complexion. Therefore, it is very important to prevent and treat constipation effectively.

Improving dietary habits, increasing dietary fiber and water intake, engaging in appropriate physical activity, and maintaining a relaxed mental state are all effective methods for preventing and managing constipation. For individuals with severe constipation, medication under medical supervision may also be necessary.
