Would L-carnitine be helpful?
Recently trying to lose weight, I heard that L-carnitine is quite popular, so I want to know whether this substance is actually effective. Will taking L-carnitine really enhance my weight loss results?

Levocarnitine is a compound that naturally exists in the human body and in various foods. Its primary function is to assist in transporting fatty acids into the mitochondria for oxidation, ultimately generating energy.
Levocarnitine is commonly used as a supplement for weight loss and enhancing exercise performance. However, levocarnitine alone cannot directly achieve weight loss; it must be combined with physical activity. Only with the synergistic effect of exercise can levocarnitine accelerate fat breakdown and utilization.
Meanwhile, long-term excessive intake of levocarnitine may cause side effects. For example, gastrointestinal dysfunction may occur, manifesting as indigestion, diarrhea, and other symptoms; sleep quality may decline, leading to insomnia and vivid dreams; and there may even be a risk of malnutrition, as it could interfere with the body's absorption and utilization of other nutrients.
