Xanthium seed (Cang Er Zi) for lowering blood sugar: usage
I am a diabetic patient with high blood sugar levels and I tire easily. Recently, I heard that Xanthium seeds (Cang Er Zi) may help lower blood sugar, and I would like to try them. However, I don't know the specific method of use. I would like to know how exactly Xanthium seeds should be used to lower blood sugar.
The effect of Xanthium seed (Cang Er Zi) in lowering blood sugar is limited and cannot replace standard hypoglycemic medications. The following usage recommendations for Xanthium seed in lowering blood sugar are suggested:
1. Decoction: Proper quantity of dried Xanthium seeds can be boiled in water. After filtering out the residue, the liquid can be consumed. This method can be combined with other hypoglycemic herbs such as Huang Qi (Astragalus) and Shan Yao (Chinese yam) to enhance the therapeutic effect.
2. Powdered form: Grind the Xanthium seeds into powder. Take 3g at a time, mix with warm water, and consume three times daily. This method is convenient for carrying and consumption, suitable for patients who frequently travel.
3. Tea preparation: Either grind the Xanthium seeds into powder or use the whole seeds directly, soak them in hot water for several minutes, and consume at scheduled times daily to help stabilize blood glucose levels.
4. Porridge preparation: Before cooking porridge, lightly fry an appropriate amount of Xanthium seeds until slightly yellow. Then boil them in water to extract the liquid, which is subsequently used together with rice to prepare porridge. This can be part of breakfast or dinner while also helping to lower blood sugar.
Diabetic patients need to maintain a balanced diet and regular exercise, and insulin or oral hypoglycemic agents may also be necessary when indicated.
