How to consume hemp seeds for treating constipation?
Having been troubled by constipation for a long time, I often can't have a bowel movement for several days, and my stomach becomes painfully bloated. I've heard that hemp seed (fire hemp seed) can treat constipation, but I don't know exactly how to consume it. How should hemp seed be consumed in order to effectively alleviate my constipation symptoms?
Seed of hemp (Fire Seed) is a commonly used TCM medicine for moistening the intestines and relieving constipation. It is rich in oils and has an excellent lubricating effect on the intestines, making it suitable for treating constipation caused by intestinal dryness.
Correct methods of administration:
1. Decoction: This is the most common method. Place the hemp seeds into a pot, add an appropriate amount of water, bring to a boil, then simmer for 20–30 minutes. Strain and discard the residue, and drink the liquid.
2. Cook with food: Hemp seeds can be cooked together with porridge, soup, or other foods, which not only enhances the nutritional value of the food but also makes it easier to consume daily. For example, adding hemp seeds to millet porridge can help relieve constipation.
3. Grinding into powder and taking with warm water: Grind the hemp seeds into a fine powder and take it with warm water. This method is more convenient.
4. Precautions: During the administration of hemp seeds, it's important to replenish fluids promptly. Drinking more warm water helps stimulate intestinal motility and aids in recovery. If symptoms do not improve after taking hemp seeds, it is recommended to seek immediate medical attention to avoid delaying treatment.
