Treatment for Finger Joint Pain
Due to practicing boxing, the finger joints have become painful; how should this be treated?
Common treatments for finger joint pain:
1. Heat application and massage: Applying heat can improve blood circulation and relieve joint pain; massage can accelerate local blood flow, further reducing pain symptoms. However, these methods should be performed under a doctor's guidance.
2. Physical therapy: Physical therapies such as acupuncture, massage, low-frequency pulsed magnetic therapy, and ultrasound can also effectively alleviate finger joint pain and promote recovery of joint function.
3. Local treatment: Topical medications, such as gels or ointments containing non-steroidal anti-inflammatory ingredients, can be directly applied to the painful area to reduce local inflammation and pain.
4. Medication: For pain caused by inflammation, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen capsules or naproxen tablets, can relieve pain and reduce inflammation. In cases of rheumatoid arthritis, disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs), such as methotrexate, may be required to control disease progression. For gout, uric acid-lowering medications such as allopurinol may be needed to prevent acute attacks.
5. Lifestyle modifications: Avoid prolonged repetitive finger movements and allow for adequate rest; keep the joints warm and avoid cold exposure; maintain a healthy weight to reduce joint strain.
