Daily Considerations for Inflammatory Myopathy
The arms feel weak, and it's becoming difficult to hold objects steadily. After visiting the hospital, the diagnosis was inflammatory myopathy. What should one pay attention to in daily life after being diagnosed with this condition?

Inflammatory myopathies are a group of diseases characterized by muscle inflammation and progressive muscle weakness, mainly including polymyositis, dermatomyositis, and inclusion body myositis. Patients should pay attention to the following points in daily life:
1. Rest and activity: During active phases of the disease, bed rest and reduced activity are recommended to prevent worsening of the condition. During remission phases, activity levels should be gradually increased, while avoiding strenuous exercise to prevent fatigue.
2. Dietary management: A high-calorie, high-protein, high-vitamin, low-fat liquid or semi-liquid diet is recommended to support muscle repair and energy needs. Avoid spicy, greasy, raw or cold foods, as well as seafood that may cause allergic reactions.
3. Infection prevention: Maintain fresh indoor air with suitable temperature and humidity, limit visitations, and avoid infections. Additionally, maintain good personal hygiene and receive timely vaccinations.
4. Skin and light protection: Dermatomyositis patients with photosensitivity should avoid sun exposure and take sun protection measures when going outdoors.
5. Medication management: Take medications strictly as prescribed by the physician, such as glucocorticoids and immunosuppressants. Do not arbitrarily adjust dosages or discontinue medication without medical advice.
6. Physical therapy: Regular physical therapy should be performed, including muscle-strengthening exercises, joint range-of-motion exercises, and balance training, to maintain muscle function and prevent muscle atrophy and joint contractures.
