Treatment Methods for Elbow Joint Pain
It's common to experience elbow pain from playing volleyball frequently. If pain occurs, how should it be treated?

Causes of elbow joint pain include, but are not limited to, overuse, trauma, inflammation, degenerative diseases, or nerve-related conditions. Common treatment methods:
1. Rest: Elbow joint pain is often caused by overuse or injury; therefore, the elbow should be given adequate rest initially, activity should be reduced, and further injury avoided. Additionally, braces or plaster casts may be used to immobilize the elbow joint, but care should be taken not to keep it immobilized for too long to prevent joint stiffness.
2. Heat and cold therapy: Depending on the nature and stage of the pain, either heat or cold compresses may be selected to relieve pain and reduce swelling. Heat application can improve blood circulation and accelerate the dissipation of inflammation, while cold application helps constrict blood vessels, reducing bleeding and swelling.
3. Massage and manipulation: Gentle massage and manipulation can help relieve muscle tension and pain.
4. Acupuncture and cupping: Traditional Chinese therapies such as acupuncture and cupping can help relieve pain and promote recovery by stimulating specific points and regulating the flow of Qi and blood.
5. Medication: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen capsules or aspirin capsules, can effectively relieve pain and reduce inflammation.
6. Rehabilitation exercises: Appropriate rehabilitation exercises can help strengthen the muscles around the elbow, improve joint stability, and prevent re-injury.
7. Surgical treatment: When conservative treatments are ineffective and pain severely impacts quality of life, surgical intervention may be considered. Surgical options include arthroscopic surgery, tendon repair, or joint replacement surgery.
