Patients with mild gastritis symptoms can generally drink dandelion water, but if symptoms are severe, drinking dandelion water is not advisable.

Dandelion possesses functions of clearing heat, detoxifying, promoting diuresis, and reducing swelling, which may help alleviate certain types of gastric inflammation. Dandelion tea also offers benefits such as diuresis, anti-inflammation, antiviral effects, lowering blood lipids, and preventing liver cirrhosis.

For patients with excessive stomach acid or damaged gastric mucosa due to gastritis, drinking dandelion water may worsen symptoms. If gastritis symptoms are mild and there is no excessive stomach acid, moderate consumption of dandelion water may be acceptable. Dandelion also has strong warming properties and contains certain bitter and toxic components, which might exacerbate gastrointestinal inflammation in patients with gastritis and inhibit gastric acid secretion, thereby affecting the treatment of gastritis.

Patients with gastritis should maintain a light diet in daily life and consume less spicy or greasy food, such as chili peppers, leeks, animal fats, and fried foods. It is recommended that patients consult their doctor before consumption.
