What are the causes of light menstrual flow?
This month, my menstrual flow was very light, and I'm quite concerned. What are the reasons for a light menstrual flow?
Light menstrual flow may be caused by various factors, commonly including:
1. Endocrine disorders: This is one of the most common causes, such as diminished ovarian function and polycystic ovary syndrome, which can all lead to reduced menstrual flow.
2. Improper diet: Long-term consumption of spicy, stimulating, or cold foods may easily cause a decrease in menstrual flow.
3. Chronic late-night sleep: This may affect hormone secretion in the body, leading to endocrine disorders and subsequently causing light menstruation.
4. Malnutrition or excessive weight loss: Prolonged malnutrition or excessive dieting may result in the body lacking essential nutrients, thus affecting the endocrine system and causing reduced menstrual flow.
5. Endometrial pathology: Conditions such as endometritis, endometrial adhesions, and adenomyosis can affect the normal growth and shedding of the endometrium, leading to decreased menstrual flow.
Finally, certain medications such as contraceptives and anti-cancer drugs may also affect hormone secretion, resulting in reduced menstrual flow. The causes of light menstrual flow are varied and require diagnosis and treatment based on the specific circumstances.
