When a baby has a fever of 38°C, parents should remain calm and may try the following methods:

1. Physical cooling: Use a towel dampened with warm water to gently wipe the baby's forehead, neck, and limbs—areas where large blood vessels are located—to help dissipate heat. Alcohol sponge baths are not recommended, as they may cause skin irritation or other discomfort.

2. Monitor symptoms: Parents should closely observe the baby's mental state and other symptoms. If symptoms such as coughing, runny nose, persistent high fever, drowsiness, vomiting, or rash occur, prompt medical attention is necessary. If the baby is younger than 3 months, immediate medical care should be sought even for a slight increase in temperature. For children older than 3 months, medical attention is also required if the fever persists or exceeds 38.5°C, especially when accompanied by the aforementioned severe symptoms.

3. Ensure adequate hydration: Ensure the baby gets sufficient rest and fluid intake. Offer the baby warm water or breast milk to prevent dehydration.

4. Medication: Under a doctor's guidance, appropriate use of antipyretic medications such as ibuprofen may be considered. However, medications must be strictly taken as prescribed.
