When dealing with a child's fever, the following steps can be tried:

1. Measure body temperature: Use a digital thermometer to measure the child's underarm or ear temperature, ensuring accurate recording of temperature changes to understand the degree of fever.

2. Physical cooling: If the temperature does not exceed 38.5℃, physical cooling methods can be attempted, such as sponge baths with lukewarm water, wiping the child's forehead and palms/soles to help dissipate heat. However, avoid using ice water or alcohol for sponge baths to prevent chills or skin irritation. Adjust clothing appropriately, maintain indoor ventilation, and ensure adequate rest.

3. Hydration: Children with fever are prone to dehydration, so parents should encourage the child to drink more water, juice, or oral rehydration salts to ensure sufficient fluid intake and prevent dehydration.

4. Medication: If the child's temperature exceeds 38.5℃, administer children-specific antipyretic medications strictly following the instructions or medical advice.

5. Monitor symptoms: Parents should closely observe the child's condition. If other symptoms occur alongside the fever, such as coughing, vomiting, diarrhea, persistent high fever, difficulty breathing, rash, or drowsiness, seek medical attention immediately.
