I suddenly developed a cerebral infarction and was hospitalized, where my symptoms improved. However, I suddenly developed a fever, and I really want to ask: what could cause a sudden fever after 15 days of hospitalization for cerebral infarction?

After hospitalization for cerebral infarction, sudden fever may be caused by multiple factors:

1. Infection: Patients with cerebral infarction who remain bedridden for long periods are susceptible to infectious diseases such as hypostatic pneumonia and cystitis, which can lead to fever. In such cases, patients may experience symptoms such as coughing, sputum production, frequent urination, and urgency.

2. Dysfunction of the thermoregulatory center: If the area of cerebral infarction affects the hypothalamus, it may cause damage to the body's thermoregulatory center, resulting in central hyperthermia. This type of fever is usually high-grade and may be accompanied by symptoms such as headache and vomiting.

3. Absorption fever due to hemorrhage: In some cases, when blood enters the tissue fluid and is broken down after cerebral infarction, absorption fever may occur. However, the temperature typically does not exceed 38.5°C and generally does not cause further harm to the body.

4. Sweating dysfunction: Cerebral infarction may affect autonomic nerve function, leading to impaired sweating and the inability to effectively dissipate body heat, which can also cause fever.

In response to this situation, timely temperature monitoring, complete blood count tests, and other examinations should be conducted to identify the cause of fever. At the same time, enhanced patient care should be provided to prevent complications.
