Disease description:

I've had severe diarrhea all day today, and I keep experiencing unbearable stomach pain. I'm worried it might be enteritis, but I'm not sure. I'd like to ask, what are the symptoms of small intestine inflammation?

The main symptoms of enteritis include the following:

1. Symptoms related to indigestion: Patients often experience abdominal pain and discomfort, especially after meals. The pain may be dull, crampy, or spasmodic and is usually located around the navel or upper abdomen. Associated symptoms include nausea, vomiting, and reduced appetite.

2. Diarrhea and abnormal bowel movements: Diarrhea is one of the typical symptoms of enteritis, characterized by increased frequency of bowel movements and changes in stool consistency, such as watery or loose stools, sometimes containing undigested food particles. Some patients may experience mucus or blood in the stool.

3. Systemic symptoms: Due to impaired digestion and absorption, patients may develop nonspecific systemic symptoms such as weight loss, malnutrition, fatigue, and low-grade fever.

4. Specific symptoms of certain types of enteritis: For example, in addition to the common symptoms mentioned above, patients with celiac disease may also have non-gastrointestinal symptoms such as mouth ulcers, bone pain, and joint pain; while Crohn's disease may be accompanied by perianal lesions, skin nodules, and ocular inflammation as extraintestinal manifestations.
