How to Treat Chronic Colitis
I have chronic colitis and am currently undergoing treatment. I don't like taking medication, but experience severe pain and feel generally unwell mentally. I would like to know how to treat chronic colitis.
Chronic colitis is a common digestive system disease, and the following are some common treatment methods:
1. Medication: Depending on the condition, appropriate medications such as aminosalicylic acid preparations, glucocorticoids, and immunosuppressants may be selected. Medications should be taken according to medical advice.
2. Dietary adjustments: Avoid high-fat, high-fiber, and spicy or irritating foods. Increase intake of easily digestible foods such as white rice, bananas, applesauce, and baked potatoes. Maintain adequate hydration to prevent dehydration.
3. Lifestyle modifications: Reduce stress, ensure sufficient rest, engage in moderate exercise, quit smoking, and limit alcohol consumption, all of which can help alleviate symptoms.
4. Psychological support: Chronic illness may cause mental stress, and appropriate psychological counseling and support can help patients better cope with the disease.
5. Surgical treatment: In rare cases, if medication proves ineffective or there are severe complications, surgical treatment may be considered.
6. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapies: Treatments such as acupoint application may also be used as adjunctive therapies.
