What are the symptoms of liver hemangioma?
I have been feeling some discomfort in my abdomen for the past two days, accompanied by a sensation of nausea. Initially, I thought it was a cold, but the symptoms did not improve after taking medication. After visiting the hospital for an examination, I was diagnosed with a hepatic hemangioma. Could you please tell me what symptoms are associated with hepatic hemangiomas?
Hepatic hemangioma is a benign tumor of the liver. Patients may experience the following symptoms:
1. Upper abdominal discomfort or pain: Larger hepatic hemangiomas may compress surrounding tissues and organs, causing dull or aching pain in the upper abdomen.
2. Gastrointestinal symptoms: Such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and indigestion, which may result from the hemangioma pressing on the gastrointestinal tract.
3. Indigestion: Symptoms such as reduced appetite, nausea, and vomiting may be related to the compression of the gastrointestinal tract by the hepatic hemangioma.
4. Jaundice: In rare cases, if a hepatic hemangioma affects the normal excretion of bile, jaundice may develop.
5. Bleeding tendency: Due to impaired liver function and abnormal coagulation mechanisms, phenomena such as skin bruising, nosebleeds, and gum bleeding may occur.
6. Systemic symptoms: Such as fatigue, weight loss, and fever, which are relatively uncommon and mostly seen in cases of giant hepatic hemangiomas.
7. Other symptoms: For example, spontaneous rupture of the hemangioma can cause massive intra-abdominal bleeding, presenting as sudden severe abdominal pain and shock.
If the above symptoms appear, especially if they are persistent, prompt medical attention is advised.
