Dr. Zhang Lu

Genital warts in women are a sexually transmitted disease caused by infection with the human papillomavirus (HPV). The main symptoms include:

1. Pain or discomfort: Pain, burning, itching, or discomfort may occur in the vulvar or anal area, and symptoms may worsen after sexual intercourse.

2. Vulvar wart-like lesions: Small, skin-colored or slightly darker granular, cauliflower-like, or papular growths may appear on the vulva, vagina, cervix, or around the anus.

3. Increased discharge with odor: Abnormal discharge and odor may be associated with genital warts. The discharge may increase in amount and appear white, yellow, or green, accompanied by an odor.

4. Bleeding: Minor spotting or abnormal bleeding during sexual activity or menstruation may occur due to trauma to the affected areas.

5. Vaginal and cervical abnormalities: Genital warts may develop on the vaginal walls or cervical surface. These warts may not be visible to the naked eye but can be detected through medical examination.

6. No obvious symptoms: It is important to note that many female patients may experience no noticeable symptoms and may only be diagnosed during routine physical or gynecological examinations.

If any of the above symptoms occur, it is recommended to seek timely medical examination and treatment.
