Cold after washing hair may be caused by catching a chill. Runny nose, sneezing and other symptoms are common manifestations of a cold; cough with phlegm may indicate a secondary respiratory tract infection following the cold.

You may take some symptomatic treatment medications as directed by a physician, such as compound paracetamol tablets or acetaminophen, caffeine and artificial cow-bezoar capsules, to relieve symptoms such as runny nose and sneezing. If there is cough with phlegm, expectorant and antitussive medications may be used, such as ambroxol oral solution or Citrus Red Phlegm Cough Syrup.

If symptoms persist or worsen, it is recommended to seek timely medical attention and undergo tests such as a complete blood count to determine whether there is a bacterial infection. If a bacterial infection is present, antibiotic treatment may be required.
