During targeted therapy, the occurrence of oral ulcers and swelling pain is a relatively common adverse reaction, but not all patients will experience it. The occurrence and severity vary from person to person. Targeted drugs may affect the normal metabolism of oral mucosal cells, leading to mucosal damage and resulting in ulcers and swelling pain.

When oral ulcers and swelling pain occur, using a gentle oral cleanser, such as normal saline for rinsing the mouth multiple times daily, can help clean the oral cavity, reduce bacterial growth, and alleviate pain. Avoid eating spicy, irritating foods, as well as food that is too hot, too cold, or too hard, to prevent worsening damage to the oral mucosa. You can eat soft, bland foods rich in protein and vitamins, such as milk, steamed egg custard, vegetable puree, and fruit puree, to ensure adequate nutrition intake and promote healing of oral ulcers.

If oral ulcers and swelling pain are severe, under a doctor's guidance, you may use local medications such as oral ulcer patches or watermelon frost spray to promote ulcer healing and reduce pain.
