Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) mainly presents with symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, and increased nighttime urination. It commonly occurs in middle-aged and elderly men. BPH may be related to hormonal changes, genetic factors, lifestyle, and other causes. If left untreated, it may lead to complications such as urinary tract infections and bladder stones.

Medications such as tamsulosin hydrochloride capsules and finasteride tablets may be taken under medical supervision. These medications help relax the smooth muscles of the urethra, relieve bladder outlet obstruction, and thereby alleviate symptoms of frequent and urgent urination.

In addition, certain lifestyle modifications can be beneficial, such as reducing caffeine and alcohol intake, avoiding prolonged sitting, and maintaining regular physical activity.

If medication and lifestyle changes are ineffective or if symptoms continue to worsen, surgical treatment may be considered. Common surgical options include transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) and transurethral incision of the prostate (TUIP).
