What causes pain in the spine of the back?
Recently, I have been experiencing persistent pain in my spine. Sometimes the pain is dull, while at other times it is more severe. The pain becomes particularly noticeable after prolonged sitting or physical exertion. What could be causing this?

Lower back pain is a common symptom that may be caused by various factors. The following are some common causes of lower back pain:
1. Prolonged incorrect posture: Sitting, standing, or maintaining incorrect postures for extended periods, such as slouching or hunching, can place stress on the lower back spine and lead to pain.
2. Muscle tension: Muscle strain, overuse of certain muscle groups, or muscle tightness can cause lower back pain. This type of pain is typically proportional to the degree of muscle tension and strain.
3. Disc problems: Discs are soft cushions located between the vertebrae of the spine, acting as shock absorbers. Disc protrusion or degeneration can compress nerves, causing pain.
4. Spinal structural abnormalities: Conditions such as scoliosis, spina bifida, and spinal arthritis can alter the normal mechanics of the spine, leading to pain.
5. Osteoporosis: As people age, bone density decreases, making fractures more likely, especially vertebral fractures, which are often a cause of spinal pain without significant trauma.
