I have been experiencing frequent pain in my thigh bone recently, sometimes so severe that it affects my ability to walk. Could it be due to overexertion or injury from exercise? Or could there be other underlying diseases? What are the possible causes of thigh bone pain?

Thigh bone pain is a common symptom that can be caused by various factors.

1. Bone diseases: The most direct cause is a problem with the bone itself, such as fractures, bone cracks, or stress fractures, especially in athletes or elderly individuals. Long-term overuse also can lead to avascular necrosis of the femoral head, which is a serious bone disease.

2. Joint problems: Hip arthritis and knee arthritis are the most common joint diseases that can cause thigh bone pain. Hip arthritis is particularly prevalent among middle-aged and elderly individuals, while knee arthritis can affect people of all age groups.

3. Muscle and tendon injuries: Soft tissue injuries such as thigh muscle strains, quadriceps tendonitis, or iliotibial band syndrome are also common causes, especially after excessive exercise.

4. Tumors: Although less common, bone tumors or metastatic tumors also can cause thigh bone pain.

5. Other factors: Conditions such as avascular necrosis of the femoral head, femoral nerve pain, and calcium deficiency also may lead to thigh bone pain.
