Recently trying to conceive, I feel as if I might be pregnant. May I ask, how many days after conception can a pregnancy test be done?

In general, it takes about 10 to 14 days from fertilization until pregnancy can be accurately detected.

After the fertilized egg implants, the level of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in a woman's body begins to rise. However, during the early stages, this level may be too low to be detected by standard urine or blood tests. Therefore, it is recommended to perform a pregnancy test a few days after the expected menstrual period to increase accuracy. However, every individual's body is different, and the rate at which hCG levels rise may also vary.

About 7-10 days after sexual intercourse, blood tests measuring hCG levels can provide a preliminary indication of pregnancy. However, this method requires professional medical personnel and is more costly. For home testing, it is recommended to use a urine pregnancy test strip on the first day of the expected menstrual cycle or one week thereafter. If the initial test result is negative but menstruation still does not occur, it is advisable to repeat the test after a few days to improve accuracy. Although some high-sensitivity pregnancy tests claim to detect pregnancy 5-6 days before the expected menstrual period, their accuracy may be lower compared to tests conducted after the expected period begins.
