How is a broken bone treated?
I accidentally fell down and now the injured area is extremely painful. Even slight movement causes excruciating pain. After visiting the hospital, I was told that there is a bone fracture. I'm very worried and unsure how serious this condition is. How should a bone fracture be treated?

A broken bone, also known as a fracture, is primarily treated according to the type, location, and severity of the fracture. Common treatment methods include:
1. Conservative treatment: Minor bone fractures without significant displacement are usually treated conservatively. This involves external fixation using plaster, splints, or braces to stabilize the bone and promote healing. During conservative treatment, patients need to rest and avoid strenuous activities. Bone-healing medications and physical therapy may also be used as adjunct treatments.
2. Surgical treatment: Fractures with severe displacement, open fractures, or intra-articular fractures may require surgical intervention, such as the use of internal fixation devices like plates, screws, or rods to realign and stabilize the bones, promoting proper healing.
3. Rehabilitation therapy: Once the fracture site begins to form a callus, the external fixation can be gradually removed, and functional exercises can be initiated to promote recovery and prevent joint stiffness and muscle atrophy.
4. Medication therapy: During the treatment process, pain relievers, anti-inflammatory drugs, and other medications may be used as adjuncts to reduce pain and inflammatory response.
