Disease description:

These days, I've been feeling irritable and haven't been eating much regular food. During lunch at work, I discussed work matters with some colleagues. After work, I wanted to have some red wine, but I'd like to ask, what foods should not be consumed with red wine?

The following are some foods that are not suitable to pair with red wine:

1. High-purine foods: such as seafood and animal offal. The alcohol in red wine promotes the production of uric acid, a metabolite of purines in the body. High-purine foods themselves also increase uric acid levels, and combining the two may trigger gout or exacerbate gout symptoms.

2. Caffeinated beverages: such as coffee and strong tea. Both caffeine and alcohol have diuretic effects, and consuming them together may increase the risk of dehydration and place additional strain on the heart.

3. Certain medications: drinking red wine with certain medications may intensify the drugs' side effects, leading to excessive sedation, abnormal blood pressure, and other adverse reactions. Consult a physician or pharmacist for details.

4. Acidic foods: such as citrus fruits and vinegar. These foods may increase the acidity of red wine, affect its taste, and potentially stimulate gastric acid secretion, irritating the gastric mucosa.

5. Spicy foods: spicy foods can irritate the mouth and gastrointestinal tract, and the tannins in red wine may further intensify this irritation, causing discomfort.

It is particularly important to note that red wine should not be consumed together with cephalosporin antibiotics, penicillin antibiotics, or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
