Why does my stomach make gurgling noises at night?
Every evening, my stomach starts to gurgle, and it feels somewhat like intestinal rumbling. I would like to know what might be causing this condition?
Abdominal rumbling at night, also known as increased bowel sounds, may be caused by various factors.
1. Dietary factors: Eating too much or too quickly, or consuming high-fiber foods, greasy foods, or foods containing lactose, can increase gas in the intestines and thus cause bowel sounds.
2. Indigestion: Undigested food remnants fermenting in the intestines can produce gas, also leading to bowel sounds.
3. Gastrointestinal dysfunction: Conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome often accompany symptoms like abdominal pain and diarrhea.
4. Stress and anxiety: Emotional fluctuations can affect normal intestinal peristalsis, resulting in increased bowel sounds.
5. Disease-related factors: Certain diseases, such as gastroenteritis, gastric ulcers, intestinal obstruction, may also cause increased bowel sounds.
For this condition, it is recommended to first observe whether there are other accompanying discomfort symptoms, and seek medical attention promptly if abnormalities occur. At the same time, maintain regular meal times and avoid overeating or excessive hunger. For patients with indigestion, medication to aid digestion and relieve symptoms can be taken under medical guidance.
