Recently thinking about starting solid foods for my baby, I would like to ask: at what age can infants begin to be introduced to complementary foods?

Complementary foods are usually introduced when the baby is around 6 months old. This timing is based on the infant's digestive system maturing enough by this stage to handle solid foods and begin showing interest in eating. Additionally, around 6 months of age, infants typically develop stronger neck control and can sit up, making feeding easier and safer.

When starting to prepare complementary foods, it's recommended to begin with single-ingredient, easily digestible foods such as vegetable purees, fruit purees, or infant rice cereal, to help the baby adapt to different flavors and textures. More varieties of food can then be gradually introduced. Meanwhile, breast milk or infant formula should continue to be provided as the primary source of nutrition until the age of 1 year.

Each baby grows and develops at a different pace, so parents should consult with a doctor or pediatric nutritionist to determine whether the baby is ready for solid foods. It's also important to watch for any signs of allergic reactions to certain foods.
