Dietary禁忌for Herpes Zoster
Recently, my immunity has decreased and I contracted shingles. I would like to know about dietary restrictions for shingles?
Herpes zoster is an acute infectious skin disease caused by the varicella-zoster virus. Although dietary adjustments cannot directly treat the disease, they can help alleviate symptoms and promote recovery. Patients should avoid the following foods:
1. Avoid spicy and irritating foods: Spicy and irritating foods such as chili peppers, pepper, and garlic should be avoided, as they may stimulate the skin, exacerbate inflammatory responses, and hinder the resolution of rashes.
2. Avoid greasy foods: Greasy foods such as fatty meats, fried chicken, and cream should be avoided as much as possible. These foods may burden the gastrointestinal tract, impair nutrient absorption, and reduce immunity.
3. Alcohol: Drinking alcohol can lower immunity and may worsen the condition or prolong the course of the disease.
4. Avoid sour and astringent foods: Such as plums and persimmons. According to traditional Chinese medicine, these foods may impede the circulation of qi and blood, which is unfavorable to the condition.
5. Be cautious with seafood: Some patients may have allergic reactions to seafood; therefore, seafood such as shrimp, crab, and fish should be consumed cautiously to avoid exacerbating skin itching and inflammatory responses.
While making dietary adjustments, patients should follow the treatment plan advised by their doctor and attend regular follow-up appointments to ensure effective control of the disease.
