Anal fissure is a common anorectal condition, primarily characterized by pain and bleeding in the anal area. During treatment, appropriate dietary adjustments are very important for relieving symptoms and promoting healing.

Patients with anal fissures should avoid spicy and irritating foods such as chili peppers, pepper, and mustard, as these foods can irritate the intestines, making the anal area more sensitive and increasing pain. They should also avoid eating hard foods, which may scratch the site of the fissure during passage through the anus, causing pain and bleeding and impairing wound healing. Additionally, alcohol and caffeinated beverages such as coffee and strong tea have diuretic effects that may lead to dehydration and dry stools, which are unfavorable for fissure recovery.

Patients are advised to increase dietary fiber intake, ensure adequate hydration, maintain anal hygiene, and avoid prolonged sitting or standing, all of which can promote recovery from anal fissures.
